If you're running Klaviyo's automatic discount codes, like those from welcome flows or popups in your Shopify store, you may notice a key limitation: these Klaviyo-generated discounts are not combinable with other Shopify discounts. For example, if you have volume discounts, free shipping codes, or simple promo codes set up directly in Shopify, customers won't be able to apply both their Klaviyo discount and these other Shopify discounts at the same time during checkout.

This happens because when Klaviyo creates discount codes automatically, Shopify defaults them to "not combinable" with other discounts. You can manually edit them in Shopify's Discounts section after they're added, but the codes generate the moment a customer receives that discount, so manual changes usually come too late for shoppers already using them.
However, there is a simple solution to make this work, which I will explain in this article.
Install a Paid App
There are several affordable apps that let you control which discount combinations are allowed with Klaviyo coupons. One app I’ve used and tested is Discount Bridge. You can also explore the Shopify App Store to find other options as new apps appear frequently and there may be a cheaper alternative.
Configure the App
- Install the app to your Shopify store
- Open the app and click Configure Settings.
- In Discount Source, select All 3rd Party Discounts or Choose Apps to target Klaviyo specifically.
- In Discount Combinations, choose which types to allow (Product, Order, Shipping discounts).
- Click Save Settings.

New Klaviyo discounts will now automatically apply your combination rules.
Please note, This won't retroactively update older codes, so edit those manually in Shopify Discounts. Also, make sure your other Shopify discounts have combination settings enabled. Both the Klaviyo discount (handled in this step) and the other discount it combines with need this setting activated.
